BioOnce upon a long time ago someone described me as "ruefully amused." Life being what it is, I've come to find that perhaps this one characteristic is one I should seek to manifest more, and manifest better.
This is not my first journal. It may not be my last. It just happens to be the one I'm flirting with now. I think it will be a bit of a departure from what I've done before. This is as it should be. It's not that I'm done with my past, or even that it's done with me. Hardly. I just think there's another time and place for it. Not here. Not now.
That said, I'm not even entirely sure what I hope to accomplish with this new journal, other than to maintain something of an outlet for the incessant thoughts that storm through my mind, or to give vent to the maelstrom of emotions that batter my heart. Perhaps, dare I hope, my "soul" might lend its voice now and again, whatever that "soul" may be, whether real, or pathetic wish-fulfillment, or nightmarish phantasm.
All I know is I've much to say, too much. Perhaps this time I can sort it all out, make sense of it, encapsulate it, set it free...set it free before I'm consumed by shadow.
Along the way I shall try to remember perhaps the most important dictum I've ever encountered:
